Student Employment Job Descriptions
All student employment positions with Campus Living require a 2.25 GPA or higher for consideration (2.5 GPA or higher is preferred.) Student employees are hired on a semester basis and must maintain a 2.25 GPA or higher to retain their position with Campus Living. Students must live or have lived on campus and must have a clear judicial record for consideration of employment. The hiring rate for Campus Living jobs is $7.25 an hour. Students are paid twice monthly and direct deposit is available.
Painting Assistant – Painting Assistants work only in the residence halls and are responsible for painting walls, ceilings and fixtures. A minimum GPA of 2.25 is required.
Computer Lab Assistant – Computer Lab Assistants assist students in the two Campus Living computer labs located in Aycock and White Halls. Experience with Microsoft Office and experience with both PCs and Macs is preferred. Students are hired to work in each of the three computer labs, not one specific lab. Scheduling is flexible with hours ranging from 8:00 A.M. until 2:00 A.M. A minimum GPA of 2.25 is required.
Neighborhood Service Office Staff – Resident Services Representatives are employed at one of two Neighborhood Service Offices located in Todd and West End Dining Halls. Applicants should be able to work some nights, weekends and daytime hours. Applicants should have strong customer service skills and provide excellent hospitality to university residents and guests. Specific job tasks include resident and conference check-ins, withdrawals, room changes, key distribution, safety inspections, showing rooms to perspective students and families, information dissemination and filing. A minimum GPA of 2.25 is required.
Office Receptionist – Office Receptionists are employed at the Campus Living Office located in Jones Hall. Applicants should have strong customer service skills and a polite and professional demeanor towards all customers and guests as this is a primary contact position of most guests. Applicants with basic computer skills are preferred. Specific job tasks include operating a multi-line phone system, dissemination of information to customers, assisting professional staff with special projects and other general office duties.
Office Assistant – Office Assistants are employed at the Campus Living Office in Jones Hall and at Coordinator Offices in each residence hall. Applicants should be highly skilled with Microsoft Office and be detail oriented to provide accurate and efficient filing and dissemination of information.

All applicants must either currently live on campus or previously lived on campus at ECU.
The Campus Living contract is a binding contract for the Academic Year (August until May). There are serious penalties for canceling the contract after specific deadlines. Students should review the campus living contract before canceling their contract or submitting an appeal. All residents are encouraged to read the Resident Handbook, in addition to reading and understanding your Campus Living Contract.
It is highly recommended that students do not sign a lease with an off campus housing property until they have received a final appeal decision.
Campus Living Contract Appeals: The Campus Living Contract has specific penalties for cancelling (and remaining enrolled at ECU) after specific dates, please review information about making the decision to cancel.All appeals for contract cancellations and buyout fees should be submitted to housingfeeappeals@ecu.edu.The appeal must come from the student and should contain detailed information regarding the circumstances for their appeal request. Supporting information may be submitted from other entities as well. In the case of financial hardships, a detailed plan will need to be submitted explaining how being released from the contract will benefit the student. Cancellation of a contract on or after July 1st (June 1st for returning students) will result in forfeiture of the $100 Advance Room Fee and a payment of a prorated amount of the Room Rate for each day the room was occupied plus a cancellation fee that fifty percent (50%) of the remaining balance due under the contract (both fall and spring semesters) after this prorated amount is paid.You may petition the Campus Living Appeals Committee (CLAC) for an exception to the above fee structure on the grounds of financial exigency, or family or medical emergency. If a you are approved for an exception to the normal cancellation fee structure by the CLAC, you will be required to pay the pro-rated amount of the Room Rate for the time the room was occupied plus the lesser of $400 or if lower fifty percent (50%) of the remaining balance due under the Contract after the prorated amount due for each day of occupancy is paid. Please reference the Campus Living Contract (above) for more details.Exemption from the Freshman Residency Requirement: Freshmen (defined as students who have compiled fewer than 24 hours of college credit and does not include early college programs) are required to live in college housing for at least two semesters. Exempted from this policy are students who have reached their twenty-first birthday prior to the first day of classes; veterans of at least two years’ active military service; married students; students who commute to school daily from their permanent, legal residence of their parents (within a 35 mile radius of campus);and students who have resided in residence halls for two semesters, excluding summers. In order to be considered for a housing exemption, a student must follow the steps below.
Lock Change Appeals: All appeals for fees related to lost keys and or FOBs and associated lock changes should be submitted to housingfeeappeals@ecu.edu. Please include detailed information regarding the circumstances of your appeal.Damage Fee Appeals: All appeals for room damage charges should be submitted to housingfeeappeals@ecu.edu. The University will assess damage charges for unauthorized use of and alterations to rooms, furnishings, equipment, buildings and for special cleaning necessitated by improper care of rooms and equipment. Charges may also be made for damages and excessive cleaning to public areas. All residents of a corridor, section, or hall will be held responsible for equal portions of the total damage/excessive cleaning charges when a specific student or students cannot be identified as responsible. Cleaning and damage charges will be billed to the responsible student(s).Conduct Appeals: Conduct appeals and inquiries to conduct related student account holds should contact the Campus Living Conduct Office at 252-328-4931.
At the NSO, you can check out loaner keys if locked out of your room, borrow vacuum cleaners, request a room change, and pick-up UPS/FedEx/other non-postal packages.
There are two Neighborhood Service Offices. There is an NSO for the College Hill Neighborhood located in Gateway East (328-4044), and an NSO for both the Central Neighborhood and West Neighborhood located in West End Dining Hall (328-4022).
The NSO is open 7 days per week during the semester.

RezNet is the high speed Internet service that is provided in your residence hall room. Campus Living (with the support of the ECU Information Technology and Computer Services (ITCS)) offers both wireless and wired connections in student rooms. Smart TVs and Gaming systems are not supported for technical/security reasons. Campus Living also offers wireless connections in the public areas (lobby, some laundry areas) of residence halls, as well. Bringing or using your own wireless accesspoint is prohibited for security reasons.
One your first access to the network, you will be given instructions on the web pages to configure your computer or tablet.
Campus Living provides technical support via “house calls” from our Resident Computer Consultants (RCC). Students can get assistance over the phone or request technical support from a RCC by calling the ITCS Helpdesk at 328-9866. – What is my mailing address?

– Where do I go to pick up may mail? Depending on which Campus Living Neighborhood you live in you would go to your Neighborhood Service Office (NSO). For West and Central Campus the CWNSO is located in the West End Dining Facility. For College Hill the CHNSO is located on the first floor of Gateway East Residence Hall.
– When can I pick up my mail? Mail can be picked up whenever the NSOs are open except between 2pm and 5pm Monday through Friday. This is time allotted to process the mail.
– What hours are the NSOs open? Monday –Wednesday 8am to midnight. Thursday & Friday 8am to 2am, Saturday 9am to 2am and Sunday 9am –midnight.
– Why does my mail carrier (USPS, FEDEX, UPS etc…) say my package has been delivered but the Neighborhood Service Office doesn’t have it? In some cases the notification received indicates that the package was received by the Greenville Post Office. Items are then sorted and received to ECU Mail Services which then distribute the item to the respective NSO.
– My mail is missing what do I do now? In most cases mail usually finds its way to the correct office. Delays are caused most commonly by wrong addressing, such as not listing the students name, hall or room number correctly. If you are expecting something and have not received it after a few days let the NSO know and they will do periodic searches for it. If using FEDEX or UPS there will most likely be a signature for the package. This information will be helpful in determining where your package may be.
– Can I mail things out from the Neighborhood Service Offices? Yes, anything being mailed out needs to be properly sealed/packaged and have the correct paid postage on it.
